Surfers getting deep tubed is the theme of this video. It’s happening in beautiful blue tropical water in Garut, Indonesia, which is located in the West Java province. This surfing video was shot on 16mm film, from the “Shades of Indonesia” movie, made for Rip Curl.

We posted it out here mainly because of some great footage of ASP pro surfer Stephanie Gilmore getting some killer barrels, but there is also the opening sequence of some poor sap getting beat up on an open reef. If you have ever gotten your surfboard leash wrapped around a coral head, you’ll be able to understand his plight.
